Born in Springfield, Oregon in 1967, I was raised in the country and small towns in both Oregon and Northern California. I moved to Reno in 1993 with my ex-husband, and though I've often regretted it, I do find myself thankful at the same time because I have met some truly wonderful people. Sometimes I really miss the old places that I've lived and have often thought of going back, but I end up staying. In my heart, I will always be that simple, small town, country girl.
It is now 2016, and many changes have come into my life in the past couple of years. The most recent one is that I have decided to go back to school to study for my AAS in Paralegal / Law. It is going to be challenging, but it is a challenge that I am looking forward to!
In April 2014, I started attending the Catholic Church at Our Lady of the Snows parish and it wasn't long after that when tragedy entered. I lost my life partner Robert in June, my mom in August and a dear friend in October. Yes, it was a rough year, but it helped me grow in my faith and to grow closer to God in so many ways. And at Easter 2015, I was baptized, confirmed and had my first communion.
In addition to being a Christian, I am a romantic soul. I dream of love and the thought of having that special someone in my life to share candlelight dinners with...to walk on the beach with ... to dance with ... to live the rest of my life with. I dream of a man that God chooses for me...a man that I can share Him with, that I can pray with, that I can worship with, that I can discuss faith and Scriptures with, that I can grow in God with. I dream of a man that I can be proud to be with and who can be proud to be with me...a man that I don't have to hide from the world or that feels he has to hide me. A man that loves and cherishes me as much as I love and cherish him. Maybe that is a tall order, but I know with God all things are possible, and I know from the motorcycle accident that there really are miracles!
My main passion for most of my life has been reading ... hence the nicknames AvidBookie and Lady Readzalot. I love the feel and smell of a book in hand over a Kindle or any electronic device, and I almost always carry a book with me. In books, I can be the courageous heroine who does so many fantastic things. I can travel to far off places, live in beautiful homes, solve mysteries that continually surround me, live a little dangerously, have many friends and the love of my life beside me. And so much more. :D When the book ends, I am back in my life, happier for having read the book, saddened a little that it had to end.
I am usually quiet and shy, especially face-to-face. I mostly prefer to stay at home, playing on the internet, reading a book, cuddling with my cats. I don't care to go places by myself, but I will if necessary...especially when it comes to travel. I love the sounds of birds singing, the wind in the trees, a babbling brook, the flow of a river or the crash of ocean waves upon the beach or rocks. I love the color of trees, the beauty of nature and animals. Yes, I take great pleasure in the simple things of life that God has given us.
I love to travel and have a large bucket list of places I'd like to go. One of my favorite places is Boston. I was only there for a day, but what I saw was fantastic and I hope to go back some day. I have also enjoyed Jamaica, though I was there during a hurricane and hope to go back someday to see more of what I missed out on. I cannot forget the waters and sights of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I've been there twice and hope to go back again someday, maybe see some more of the surrounding area and shop in the village, and, of course, enjoy the beautiful, warm beach and water. I dream of far off places that I haven't been...England, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Greece and France. I dream of seeing more of the USA too. If I had the money and the time, I would be constantly traveling!!!
There is so much more that I could say, but I will leave it for now. My pages herein will speak volumes about me, and I do hope that you will enjoy your visit within them. My wish is that you will come away feeling a little better for having visited. Please do come back whenever you'd like!
